This journey began as a teenager when I got to design my bedroom all by myself. I remembering selecting the perfect paint color, bedspread and curtains. Oh it was so fun! I went on to study art studio and art history in college. I spent most my career managing non-profit organizations and doing development work and dreamed of having my own design business. I enjoyed making our homes beautiful cozy places and helping friends with their home décor. With a busy family and career the time wasn’t quite right.
The opportunity to start Purple Coneflower Design came with a move to Hibbing, MN for my husbands career. When I decided that its time to make my dream happen, it was scary and exciting all at once. I put my art background, love for antiques, and my organizational skills all to work. In the fall of 2017 Purple Coneflower Design was launched. I took it once step at a time, doing craft shows, and designing pieces, starting with a Facebook page. It also took encouragement and support of my family and friends to put myself out there.
Today, I work out of a studio in my home and I’m a member at Iron Range Makerspace. Makerspace allows me to work on bigger furniture piece and access equipment I don’t have. It’s also a community of “Makers” that have been incredibly valuable. I have merchandise in Birds of A Feather, an adorable occasional store in Bovey, MN. Check out my calendar to see what events I’ll be at in the upcoming months.
Thanks you for visiting Purple Coneflower Design!
